The flower--from Project 1

This is the flower from Rachel's website. The picture doesn't do it justice. It was someone's birthday today. So, I gave it to them.

The Teddybear--from Tutorial

I guess it turned out ok. It now has a home on my desk. I think I do much better when I don't have to to any counting. LOL...

NEW CHALLENGE IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I have just come up with a fantastic idea. Also, I will know if anyone is actually reading these or not. Anyhow.....

The new IDEA: I would like someone to send me, say a picture of a animated character they would like to see if I could --CREATE IT! WITHOUT A PATTERN TO FOLLOW........Send your picture to me at : yarnyokel@gmail.com Subject line please put Crochete challenge.

That would be awesome. I think, that is a REAL CHALLENGE.

Also, I would just like to add that I am trying to get my camera up and going, so that I can finally post pictures.

Project 2 (finished)

OK, now that one was a little more difficult. I am not all that skilled, so I had a little bit of an issue with the magic circle. Thanks to that tutorial; I believe her name is Theresa, posted and the other wonderful instructional tutorials. I finally mastered, well more like fumbled my way through the magic circle. I like most of us, have the biggest difficulty with projects right out of the gate- so to speak. Once the horse is running- then we are off like the wind. I guess it just takes lots and lots of practice. Anyway, this project- I ended up doing in two sittings. The arms and legs, which took about 30minutes (give or take) each. The body and head seemed to go a little smoother at this point. These I did today and finished....so now I had all these little body parts all over. (lol) The tutorial helped. Showing me how to sew them all together. Now, this is the issue I had. The stupid head kept falling onto the floor while I was playing this balancing act. Just tell yourself its only yarn they can be smashed and shaped back up. (note: don't stuff the items to much, made it a little harder than it looks. I will have to say all in all. It turned out great. I should have just bought some eyes. Mine look a little off. So, this project took me in total actually; 3-4 hours if I add it all up. It was great late night fun. I enjoyed trying it. By the time I finish doing this. I will be creating my own patterns....or....crocheting like a crazy fool. Check out Theresa's blog she has great instructions very, very, very helpful. You may need it! She is a wonderful teacher of the art of crochet.

Project 1---(RESULTS)

THE ROSE PATTERN

Well, I have to say it turned out very nicely. The instructions were not to difficult to follow. I had a little trouble in the very beginning of this pattern. I think I wasn't supposed to skip and then do 2 dbl crochets in each space then ch 2 and repeat. It is exactly what I did. Of course that wasn't the instructions. (who knew) However, Rachel the poster of this pattern did give a link to help with the abbrevations, etc... So, guess what? I had to redo it. Once I completed the stitches in row three and rolled up as per the instructions. I was 'pleasantly' surprised. It was quite beautiful. I did have a little trouble with the leaves. I ended up making 4 of them because the first two did not fair well. They looked just awful. So, guess what? I redid them over. Still not happy with the way the leaves turned out. With a lot of practice on this pattern you could easily do this very quickly. It took me overall about 1 1/2 hours to complete this flower. Not to bad considering I had no idea what the heck I was doing...lol It was fun. (I'll post a picture of it as soon as my camera is up and going again. Happy crocheting..:) and thanks Rachel!
